Manouchehr Shamshiri, a former Asian champion and World Military Games medalist in athletics, went on to serve as both coach and head of Iran’s national athletics team between 1991 and 1996.
During this period, he played a pivotal role in shaping a new generation of Iranian runners. Among his trainees were distinguished athletes such as Hamid Sajjadi, Abdolsamad Gorgani, and Hassan Motahed Sabzevari, many of whom went on to claim national and Asian medals under his guidance.
His tenure is remembered as a defining era that bridged his own legacy as a champion with his contributions as a mentor and leader in Iranian athletics.
